3. Rayhunter Installation and Launch

On Linux (direct USB tether)

- Connect Orbic hotspot to PC using USB-C cable.[13][14][15]

- Download Rayhunter from EFF releases page or GitHub.[16][13]

```bash
wget https://github.com/EFForg/rayhunter/releases/latest/download/releases.tar
tar -xf releases.tar && rm releases.tar releases.tar.sha256
```

- Run the included installation script:

```bash
./install.sh
```

- The Rayhunter daemon will start; it should bind to port 8080 by default.[14][15][13]

On Windows (PowerShell)

- Install Zadig WinUSB driver for device.[17]

- Download and unzip Rayhunter release.

- Save `install.ps1` in the directory with `install.sh`.

- Run:

```powershell
.\install.ps1
```

(Device may reboot; output will confirm success as “checking for rayhunter server…success!”).[17]

Verify Rayhunter

- Rayhunter runs as a service on port 8080.

- To access local Rayhunter web UI:

```bash
adb forward tcp:8080 tcp:8080
```

- Open browser and navigate to `http://localhost:8080\` for confirmation of service.[15][17]

4. Ongoing Management

- Monitor Rayhunter UI for detection status (“green” for normal, “red” for IMSI catcher).

- Periodically check firewall and port forwarding rules in the Orbic admin interface or via CLI.

- Keep device firmware up to date via Management > Upgrade in web GUI.[9][8]

- Change administrative passwords regularly and restrict physical access.
