I started with a simple question—could I find evidence that DOGE is punching holes in our national cyber defenses?
Then my life turned into the sort of spy movie where the intel analyst dies at the end.
As a scientist, I always try to find evidence to disprove my own theory, but each step I took confirmed that not only was my hunch correct, but the reality went even further than I suspected. During my investigation, I was so alarmed by what I found that I traveled to DC to raise the alarm to Congress. I was either ignored or told in private that I was on to something but the office didn’t want to “deal with it.”
Then the Dan Berulis disclosure exploded into public view (read Brian Krebs’ article with link to his complaint here (https://krebsonsecurity.com/2025/04/whistleblower-doge-siphoned-nlrb-case-data/). I knew that we were both seeing different pieces of the same, dire puzzle.

This may be the first stage in a campaign to gain access to highly classified nuclear secrets, the foundation of our country’s military security.

I went to DC to raise the alarm to Congress. Staffers privately affirmed I was on to something huge, but they didn’t want to deal with it.
Despite my efforts to raise the alarm in Washington, I was dismissed and told I was “overreacting,” or privately told my findings were highly significant but they didn’t want to do anything about it.

Musk and DOGE’s assault on the federal government didn’t just move fast and break things by accident. He used this approach to break democracy while gaining control of every type of data you can think of, from Americans’ Social Security information to data that enriches his business interests to classified secrets essential for national security.
(Even if DOGE was just incompetent and not actively malicious, the end result is the same damage to our safety as individuals and national security as a whole. For once, I agree with Musk when he said “Incompetence…is indistinguishable from sabotage.”

Multiple lawsuits have been filed against DOGE and affiliated entities over these privacy violations, alleging unauthorized data harvesting and misuse, yet the public has seen little accountability to date.
